A Light on the Path
Song Lyrics
A Light on the Path

Boundaway (Words and music by Jim Hinton © 2006)

I’ll catch your eye with the cold hard stare of a sailor
I’ll billow your sail with the seven cold winds of the sea
I’ll take you to the starboard where the starlight dwell
I’ve so much to tell, you must tell me
Glamorous mother of tropical nature I live for your ways
The islands abound with a shimmering sound in the afternoon waves
I fall to the depths of the warmness dark water in Capricorn flight
Forsaking the anchor of doubt and restraint in the angerless night
Away, I’m bound away, away, far away my love, I’m bound away
High on the bastions of fate the battalions were gathered ashore
While our galleons rode high on the sea with the wind at their beckon call
And I from the platform did watch as the soldiers began to run
Away from the grace of your face and away from the setting sun
Away, I’m bound away, away, far away my love, I’m bound away

Chinese Lantern (Words and music by Jim Hinton © 2006)

And the sun, a Chinese lantern, cast its glow upon the heavens
Then melted on the water leaving liquid golden rivers that flowed into the waves
Like a drawing etched in crystal, the snow-white gull of brightness
Flickered dimly ‘cross my vision in the sunburst spell of evening
Then vanished from my sight
And the passing scene before me shimmered like a water-color dream
Then faded into grayness, silent slipping darkness…

Timeless tides of virgin water wash across a twilight shore
Parting clouds reveal celestial eyes unchanging evermore
Patience, not to speak too soon
Every truth will come to light illumined by the moon
For every soul who gives a love a love is well received
And every hand that reaches out is touched in times of need
Silence, beautiful and deep
Now is not the time to wake this angel from her sleep
But oh, to see her walking veiled softly in the distance, by the water
Glowing dimly, fading slowly now
Then reappearing, motionlessly watching o’er the sea, the sky, forever
Touching softly all who know her name
With every drop of rain she cries
With every breath of wind she sighs
From the hands of time she flees
And through each shining star she sees

Moonbeams (Words and music by Jim Hinton © 2006)

The sweet lady’s eyes, the eyes of heaven
In the moonbeams of Thy Love
Sedately she sighs the skies of evening
In the moonbeams of Thy Love
So still the scene, the lady reposes
In the moonbeams of Thy Love
Her silhouette dreams the lake of dark roses
In the moonbeams of Thy Love
Evening mist, they kissed, the stars were falling
In the moonbeams of Thy Love
She whispers a wish, he listens to this soft calling
In the moonbeams of Thy Love
In the moonbeams of Thy Love

Queen of Light (Words and music by Jim Hinton © 2006)

I see you are the Queen of Light, stars and diamonds for your crown
Moonlight melts the stone like ice
Your curling hair cascading down
Your curling hair cascading down
I feel your light behind the skies, incandescent green and blue
I hear your song when all is still
Rising with the evening new
Rising with the evening new, oh,
Floating on the lotus pools
Reflecting as a million jewels
The shining beauty of your grace
A glow divine surrounds your face, most blessed Queen of Light
Queen of Light, your gentle gaze
Your gentle stars, their gentle rays,
Most blessed Queen of Light,
Most blessed Queen of Light

The palace on the Milky Way, starry fountains in the sky
Is where the Queen of Light was born
And learned to dance as angels fly
And learned to dance as angels fly, oh,
Waltzing on the twilight plain
Dancing in-between the rain
Then rising in a pirouette to spin the starry alphabet
To spell to us her name
Most blessed Queen of Light above
The name you gave to us was Love
Most blessed Queen of Light
Most blessed Queen of Light

Way of Water (Words and music by Jim Hinton © 2006)

Water, water, see the water falling from the skies
Water, water, feel the water falling from my eyes
I’ve got peace like a river, like a river, like a river in my soul
And I’ve got peace like a river, like a river, like a river in my soul
Water, water, hear the secrets sacred waters tell
Water, water, taste the water from the holy well
I’ve got joy like a fountain, like a fountain, like a fountain in my soul
And I’ve got joy like a fountain, like a fountain, like a fountain in my soul
Water, water, living waters nourishing the lands
Water, water, seas of water cradled in Thy hands
I’ve got love like an ocean, like an ocean, like an ocean in my soul
And I’ve got love like an ocean, like an ocean, like an ocean in my soul
Peace like a river
Joy like a fountain
And love like an ocean

1914 (Words and music by Jim Hinton © 2006)

And the melody, ‘Claire de Lune’ drifts into the pale afternoon
From an ancient piano in a second floor room
And the old girl who’s living upstairs, she still plays the very same airs
She played in the springtime back in 1914
Back then when the sunlight was golden and she was a young soldier’s joy
They married in 1914 while the hillsides were turning to green
In the springtime before the war in a town by the sea
She looked at his face in the sun, she was certain that he was the one
She believed in only one, she believed in him
And oh, she could play him a melody and then they would walk by the sea
She stood by the window that day in October they called him away
Later on there were letters come from over the sea
Then one day a telegram came and the sunlight was never the same
As it was in the springtime back in 1914
And still she would play him a melody and taste the salt wind from the sea

A flower she’s placed in her hair
Her shoulders so slender and fair as she stares at the window through half-
opened eyes
And then in the pale afternoon
He is standing again in her room
They make love in the sunlight like it’s 1914
Some wine he would bring from the south of France and she sets the table for
two…

And the melody, ‘Claire de Lune’
Still hangs in the pale afternoon
There’s a sign in the window, reads ‘Apartment for Rent’
And the young couple standing below
They’re trying to give it a go but the money’s so hard to find and his orders are due
And still they are laughing and acting like kids
Alone in the pale afternoon

Teach Me the Ways of Thy Love  (Words and music by Jim Hinton © 2006)

Just let me feel Thee here in my heart
Teach me the ways of Thy Love
My love and I, never apart
Teach me the ways of Thy Love
Teach me the ways of Thy Love
How shall I greet Thee, what shall I say
Teach me the ways of Thy Love
I long to meet Thee night and day
Teach me the ways of Thy Love
Teach me the ways of Thy Love
What’s this enchantment, what can it mean?
Teach me the ways of Thy Love
The most beautiful vision I’ve ever seen
Teach me the ways of Thy Love
Teach me the ways of Thy Love

Lighter Than Air (Words and music by Jim Hinton © 2006)

My little love, come into the sunlight
Come into the sunlight laughing the morning is fair
My little love, it feels just like Christmas
It feels just like Christmas and we’re lighter than air
My little love, abandon all sorrow
Abandon all sorrow, all pain and despair
My little love, all is forgiven
All is forgiven and we’re lighter than air
Oh. Come join the banquet
Come join the banquet, there’s riches to share
Oh, then go follow the starlight
Go follow the starlight, you’ll be lighter than air…
So my little love, come out of the shadows
Come out of the shadows, there’s blessings to spare
My little love, this must be heaven
This must be heaven ‘cause we’re lighter than air
Oh, come join the banquet
Come join the banquet, there’s riches to share
Oh, we’ll go follow the starlight
Go follow the starlight we’ll be lighter than air…
My little love, come into the sunlight
Come into the sunlight laughing the morning is fair
My little love, it feels just like Christmas
It feels just like Christmas and we’re lighter than air
All is forgiven and we’re lighter than air
This must be heaven ‘cause we’re lighter than air

Sweetest of Love (Words and music by Jim Hinton © 2006)

Nearest of near, oh, dearest of dear, oh, clearest of clear, oh
This is the sweetest of love
Heart of my heart, oh, never apart, oh, all that Thou art, oh
This is the sweetest of love
Starlight gleaming, radiance streaming, dear hearts dreaming
This is the sweetest, the sweetest of love
Borne on the wind, oh, blessings to send, oh, world without end, oh
This is the sweetest of love

Let Love Be Your Life (Words and music by Jim Hinton © 2006)

The warm satin breezes blow golden at sunset
Caressing the fountains of hope in my heart
Oh come gentle people in moments of silence
And walk with me down to the enchanted shore
And be not troubled, let love be your light
And open your heart, let love be your life
There once was a time I met with a sailor
Who carved me a statue of driftwood and pearls
The wood was knowledge, the pearls were wisdom
He set it to sail on the ocean of love
And be not troubled, let love be your light
And open your heart, let love be your life
I once heard the words of a north-country minstrel
They soared o’er the coastline, a windsong of joy
They rose to the heavens and rained on the blessed
Who opened their eyes to the promise of love
And be not troubled, let love be your light
And open your heart, let love be your life
And fear not the passing of daylight to darkness
For yours is the light that can never grow dim
You’ll slumber in silence and dream of the future
Cradled, protected in the Lord’s gentle hands
And be not troubled, let love be your light
And open your heart, let love be your life
